The ASRC Tennis Committee, responding to concerns expressed by Club members, voted on February 6th to revisit and modify the rules regarding non-Club member participants on USTA teams. As a result of the vote, the following rules are effective for 1998 and future USTA teams:
Any members rated at the USTA level of the team wishing to participate must be accepted on the team before any non-members.
If there are fewer than 12 club members available to play at any level (3.5, 4.0 etc.) (fewer than 8 for 5.0) then non-members are allowed to complete the roster for that level. Note this is not per team but per USTA level.
Club members on any team must be allowed to play a minimum of 2 matches.
Non-members may only play on ASRC USTA teams for 2 years retroactive to the 1997 season.
A non-member fee of $125 must be paid prior to the use of ASRC facilities. This is in addition to other fees charged by the team for USTA fees, balls, refreshments, etc.
Non-members are allowed to use ASRC courts only during scheduled matches and official team practices (when teams are given pre-scheduled reserved use of the courts).
Normal guest fee rules apply at any other time.
Violation will result in dismissal from the team, forfeiture of the fee and loss of ASRC court use.
