Six Almaden Master Whale Heads traveled to Seattle for the Masters Short Course Nationals on May 17-20. The high light of the meet was our new National Treasure, Brad “Batman” Meacham. He displayed his “super hero” powers with first place finishes in the 100 IM swimming .55 seconds, 200 IM swimming a 1:59, and the 400 IM going 4:22. Not only did he win these events at this national meet, he is now the top 40-44 male in the nation in the 200 IM and second in the 100 and 400 IM’s for the short course season. His swims were very exciting to watch. He was joined by teammates Bob Auchard who swam all best times, Jeanette Soe, Lisa Kerley, Thyra Tegner and Allison Hunt. The girls swam a medley relay and we had a mixed free relay of Bob, Allison, Jeanette and Batman that placed 8th only by .01 to 7th place. All six swimmers won medals bringing the total count to 24.
